Somewhat busy early voting in Macoupin County
Steady stream of people taking advantage of early voting in Carlinville
Nearly 1,000 people have cast ballots in the county so far
CARLINVILLE — With less than two weeks until Election Day, early voting is underway in Macoupin County.
As of Monday, nearly 1,000 people have already cast their ballots, according to Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan.
Duncan said the turnout so far has been "steady," with no long lines or wait times.
"It's been going very smoothly," Duncan said. "We've had a good number of people come in each day, but it's not been overwhelming."
Early voting in Macoupin County began on Sept. 29 and will continue through Nov. 7. Voters can cast their ballots at the Macoupin County Courthouse in Carlinville or at the following satellite locations:
- Staunton City Hall
- Gillespie City Hall
- Virden Township Hall
- Palmyra Township Hall
- Brighton Township Hall
Voters who are registered in Macoupin County can vote at any of the early voting locations. They will need to bring a valid photo ID with them.
